The Foundations for Vocalypse were laid in 2005 and it was officially incorporated as a Society in 2006 by new music
soprano Janice Jackson. Vocalypse creates, commissions, and presents unique and exciting musical events which
stretch the limits of contemporary classical and improvisational vocal music.

All musical genres are fair game for the Vocalypse imagination, but the emphasis is on contemporary and
experimental forms, including through composed music, graphic scores, and spoken word along with singing and
free jazz.  The combining of popular and/or world music with contemporary classical vocal repertoire is always
a possibility.

Why Not Now is a concert series dedicated to presenting up close and personal house concerts which explore edgy
vocal music in the 21st century. Vocalypse also offers master classes and workshops for singers of contemporary
vocal music as well as opportunities for the general public to learn more about experimental music.
